Who We Are

Alamo City Locksport is a loose group of lockpickers, locksporters and locksmiths in San Antonio. We are a TOOOL affiliate, and we gather to share ethical locksport with anyone who is interested.

We want to bring together anyone curious about the basic ways we secure ourselves — and about identifying and exploiting the weaknesses in them. Understanding how a lock fails is how you learn to protect yourself and the people around you.

All ages are welcome and encouraged. We gather for the sport and the science of it, and everyone has something to learn regardless of age or experience.

First Time?

We provide the picks

There is a set of shared tools for new learners, and people are happy to show off their own. Beginner pick kits and cases are available to buy if you want to keep practising at home.

All ages welcome

Age, experience and background are beside the point — we are here for the sport. (Texas law still applies: only 21+ may drink. Caffeine is an option depending on the venue.)

Bring a lock

Got an old lock you want to see opened? Bring it and we will help you defeat it. Only ones you no longer depend on, though — picking wears a lock out over time.

Two Ways In

We run two different gatherings. Both are open, both are chances to learn something and to share the love of locksport with other enthusiasts — come to either, or both.

Monthly meetup

Flying Saucer

11255 Huebner Rd, San Antonio
Our main gathering. Puzzles, a brew, and a table full of locks. People bring bypass tools, dimple picks, the odd Flipper Zero — whatever they are playing with.

Labyrinths & Locksport

Court of Gamers

2824 Thousand Oaks Dr, San Antonio
A smaller, regular session on Wednesday evenings in a game shop. Good if you want a quieter room and more time at the bench.

The Rules

Locksport runs on a simple ethic, and we hold to it without exception.

  1. Pick only locks you own, or locks whose owner has given you permission to pick.
  2. Never pick a lock that is in use. If something depends on that lock right now, it is not a practice lock.
  3. Do not pick to gain entry. The point is the puzzle, not what is behind the door.

Anyone who is not on board with that will be asked to leave. It is the reason a group like this can meet openly, in public, in a bar and a game shop.

Find Us

Meetup is where the dates go up — start there. We run two Instagram accounts, and both are worth a follow.

Questions? Message us on any of these. We do not run a club email address.
